Are your diapers or wipes biodegradable or compostable?

Our diapers are not biodegradable or compostable, the truth is no disposable diapers are compostable or biodegradable. Unfortunately when a diaper brand markets that its disposable diaper is biodegradable or compostable, it actually means that some parts of the diaper can biodegrade if they are separated from the rest of the diaper after the diaper has been used, and brought to an industrial composting facility that provides the right environment for the parts to break down over time. Unfortunately, there are only a few composting facilities in the US that accept diapers, so the majority of these diapers end up in a landfill, and the parts of them that could biodegrade do not. Because of this, we focused on the beginning of the supply chain and the materials we source - we focused on replacing petroleum-based materials with plant-based materials in our diaper, in order to be as sustainable as possible while making a diaper that is as effective as conventional diapers.

While our diapers are not biodegradable or compostable, we are deeply committed to sustainability. Here are some things we are doing to reduce our environmental impact, many of which are focused on the beginning of the supply chain:

1) We are the only diaper in the U.S. to use Organic Cotton

2) Our diapers are manufactured in a carbon-neutral facility

3) We've replaced petroleum-based materials with plant-based materials

4) We use paper packaging

5) We are a certified B Corporation, which means we are subject to 3rd party oversight to ensure our business practices are socially and environmentally responsible

Our Dry wipes: Our dry wipes are made of just 100% organic cotton, so by nature, they are biodegradable and compostable. We've had them tested for biodegradability to confirm! We haven't had them tested in a composting facility, however, because they are just 100% cotton, they are inherently compostable. I found these articles helpful:

Our Wet wipes: Our wet wipes material is 100% plant-based, specifically viscose. Our formula is also 100% plant-based (and water). We have had these tested and confirmed to be biodegradable.

We haven't had our wet wipes tested to be compostable yet, however, we are working on having that test completed!
